안녕하십니까,
저희 사단법인 한-아프간친선협회(회장 신치호)는, 아프가니스탄의 영양실조를 해결하기 위해 '희망의 콩'을 심고 있는 국제구호단체 NEI의 국내 파트너로서 오는 6월 6일(목) 오전 10시 ~ 오후 2시 여의도중학교(여의도동 40-1)에서 대규모 후원 바자회를 실시할 계획입니다.
홈쇼핑 판매 아이템 가운데 인기 의류제품을 비롯하여 숙녀화, 화장품, 등산용품, 주방용품 등 3천여 점의 생활용품이 1만원 대의 단가에 판매될 예정이며, 우리 콩으로 만든 된장, 고추장 등과 속리산 청정 표고버섯, 각종 건강기능식품들도 파격가에 공급됩니다. 그 밖에 아프간 전통 케밥을 비롯하여 햄버거, 와플, 빈대떡, 각종 음료 등도 판매될 예정입니다.
재미교포 식품생화학 전문가인 권순영 박사에 의해 2003년도에 설립된 NEI (Nutrition & Education nternational)는, 지난 10여 년간 아프간 정부와 농민들의 협력하에 전국적으로 콩을 재배하여 연 평균 2천 톤씩 콩을 생산하고 있으며 한국에서 들여간 콩 방앗간 설비들을 이용하여 콩 가루를 만들어 아프간 주민들의 주식인 난 빵에 섞어 먹도록 하는 한 편 빈곤층과 난민촌을 대상으로 두유 급식을 실시하고 마을마다 부녀자들을 교육하여 콩을 요리해 먹을 수 있도록 하므로써 그 나라의 심각한 영양실조, 즉 단백질 결핍을 해결해 나가고 있습니다. 현재 UN 산하 WFP(세계식량프로그램)을 비롯하여 FAO, 유니세프 등과 미 국무성 국제개발처(USAID) 등의 협조를 받고 있으며, 특히 올 해 부터는 한국정부의 대규모 재정지원이 시작될 예정입니다.
한-아프간친선협회의 금번 바자회에는 특별히 탈북 대학생 및 탈북 청소년 50여 명 등 총 100여 명이 자원봉사로 수고하게 되며, 수익금의 일부는 탈북 학생들에게 장학금으로 지급됩니다.
여의도중학교 학생 30여 명으로 구성된 '여의도 RCY 동감 오케스트라'는 이 바자회의 오프닝 행사에서 '플래시몹' 형식의 축하 연주를 통해 행사의 품격을 높이고 참여하는 모든이들에게 기쁨을 선사할 것으로 기대됩니다.
모처럼 휴일을 맞아 개인적으로 좋은 계획들이 있으시겠지만, 아프간 여성과 아이들, 그리고 탈북 학생들을 위한 금번 후원 바자회를 통해 함께 희망을 나누어 주시기 바랍니다.

'Seeds of Hope' charity bazaar on June 6, 2013 (Memorial Day holiday) from
9:30am-2pm at Yeoido Middle School (40-1 Yeoido-dong, Yongdeungpo-gu,
Seoul).
Korean-Afghan Friendship Association (KAFA) is the Korean
partner of Nutrition & Education International (NEI), a U.S. based
humanitarian NGO which has been helping Afghan women and children defeat
malnutrition through the soybean industry development campaign nationwide in
Afghanistan for the past 10 years.
At this bazaar, more than 3,000 items will be sold for unbelievable prices,
e.g., at 80~95% discount off of regular prices.
They include various
clothing, women shoes, cosmetics, kitchen wares and other popular household
items
which have been major hits on TV home shopping channels. Moreover,
Korean soybean pastes,
organic mushrooms, dietary supplements and health
foods will be sold at heavy discounts as well.
The visitors shouldn't miss
the culinary food court serving Afghan-style kebabs wrapped with the soy
naan,
hamburgers with prime beef paddies, waffles, and all kinds of hot/cold
beverages..
This bazaar will be assisted by about 100 volunteers, half
of which consists of North Korean defector students.
Those students as well
as Afghan women and children are the beneficiaries of the profits raised from
this fundraiser event.
In particular, the visitors can enjoy a 'flash
mob' music performance by Yeoido RCY Orchestra comprising 30+
Yeoido Middle
School students.
